CRISIL has reaffirmed 'A1+' ratings on the short-term debt programme of Idea Cellular post the spectrum auctions held in February 2014 in the 900 MHz and 1800 MHz bands.

The rating continues to reflect the company's strong market position in its established telecom circles 1, and adequate financial flexibility because of its status as a key company of the Aditya Birla group.

These rating strengths are partially offset by Idea Cellular's average debt service parameters; along with its exposure to regulatory uncertainty in the telecommunications (telecom) sector, and to stiff competition in its established service areas.

Shares of the company gained Rs 1.35, or 1.03%, to trade at Rs 132.85. The total volume of shares traded was 86,461 at the BSE (11.09 a.m., Thursday).
